ShapeGrabber Reports Milestone Year

February 25, 2009

Ottawa, ON Canada – After a milestone year in which its industrial 3D scanning products reached mainstream adoption for quality assurance, ShapeGrabber is reporting another profitable year and continued growth in numerous target markets.

ShapeGrabber is based in Ottawa, Canada, and has installed 3D inspection systems worldwide for clients such as Toyota, Northrop Grumman, Johnson & Johnson, HP and Toshiba.

ShapeGrabber’s automated 3D scanners are used for quality inspection of aerospace, automotive, medical, and other complex-shaped parts. The company added several new customers in 2008, introduced two products, and inked two global resale agreements including one with Nikon Instruments.

“2008 was a milestone year for ShapeGrabber because our products reached a turning point in market acceptance,” said Pierre Aubrey, company President and CEO. “Our customers are now using ShapeGrabber 3D scanners as an integrated part of their day-to-day quality assurance processes – in many cases our scanners are used 24/7, day in and day out. The value of our very fast and accurate 3D scanning has proven itself out in real-world settings.”

ShapeGrabber’s newest scanner, the Ai310, has become a popular addition to the company’s product line, providing fast and accurate 3D scanning in a compact form factor. The company also introduced a specialized dental scanner, the Ai210D, specifically designed for systems integrators, original equipment manufacturers, and distributors serving the dental industry.

ShapeGrabber’s newest resellers, Nikon Instruments and Optical Gaging Products, are helping to expand ShapeGrabber’s distribution globally. Nikon distributes the Ai310 and Ai810 scanners throughout the United States, while Optical Gaging Products provides a channel into Asia.
