ShapeGrabber Launches Faster, More Accurate 3D Scanhead

New SG356 scanhead offers fast, accurate 3D scans of medium-sized parts

May 9, 2017 Stuttgart, Germany – At the Control 2017 International Trade Fair, ShapeGrabber today announced the availability of its newest scanhead to date. The SG356 scanhead delivers a scanning speed gain of up to 10 times as compared to the previous SG502 model, as well as greater accuracy and stability under temperature variations.3D-Scanhead-SG356

Featuring a shorter wavelength (530nm) GREEN laser, a new lens, and a new imager, the SG356 scanhead delivers improved performance for scanning glossy plastic and reflective metal parts, and is ideally suited to the ShapeGrabber Ai810 industrial 3D scanner.

Pierre Aubrey, President at ShapeGrabber said: “The SG356 is the third member of our sixth-generation scanhead technology and reflects our continuous commitment to 3D scanning innovation. Existing customers can upgrade their existing ShapeGrabber Ai810 scanner with this new scanhead and enjoy accuracy and significant speed improvements, while new customers will enjoy the most advanced 3D scanning technology platform on the market today.”

The new scanhead design features these enhancements:

  • Up to 10 times faster scanning speed than its predecessor, the SG502
  • Greater accuracy and tolerance to temperature changes
  • Variable field of view in addition to depth of field
  • Larger dynamic sensing range to scan a wider range of part types and surface finishes
  • Positive lock mounting mechanism for ease of installation and switching with the SG46 and SG156, as well as greater precision
  • Compatible with the ShapeGrabber Ai810 scanner
